Sergio is an international sports lawyer based primarily in Madrid, and with experience of matters across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has been instructed in several matters before FIFA, including matters of overdue payables, training compensation and solidarity mechanism. In addition to this, Sergio has also been involved in cases involving elements of mobbing / bullying of individuals, and has experience in litigating matters at TAS / CAS.
In addition to dispute work, he had the opportunity to advise to several intermediaries at national level in both Spain and Greece, due to his experience assisting in-house at a La Liga club in Spain, as well as his period in Athens (Greece) being part of a specialist sports law firm, Sergio has acquired the skills to provide with a professional service in this industry.
Furthermore, Sergio has been invited to participate in several sessions of the Master in International Sport Law at the world-renowned Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE) in Madrid, as well to the Global Executive Masters in International Sports Law at the same Institute.
Prior to his involvement in sports, Sergio has experience working as an in-house legal advisor at financial institutions, as well as accepting instructions in a range of civil law matters. Sergio also appears as a consultant for Code Abogados (http://www.codeabogados.com).
Having played sport at various levels, being part of several football teams and Padel & Tennis Clubs, Sergio´s enthusiasm and dedication to sport and its regulation gives Sergio a strong perspective on how to manage interests in non-contentious matters, as well as how best to find practical solutions in contentious situations.
Sergio speaks English and Spanish, with limited proficiency in French.
